MANOWAR "The Day the Earth Shook: The Absolute Power" - (the biggest stage ever built for a festival is host to the ultimate Manowar show, which includes everyone who was ever in the band, at the first ever Earthshaker fest in front of 25,000 fans!!! disc one is the show and though the set list is typical, there are a few surprises, like "brothers of metal", the "glory of Achilles" segment from "Achilles, agony and ecstasy" and then new track "king of kings." also due to technical difficulties, this may be the first show without a bass solo, and unfortunately, there are no songs from "into glory ride", but this still rules. to see "battle hymn" performed with a 100 piece orchestra, 30 piece choir three guitarists and three drummers, redefines the word "epic", and may be the greatest thing that ever was. the second disc features an extended look at the fan club convention, which features Viking battles, beer drinking, arm wrestling, etc. learned many things as well, such as: Joey DeMaio has a doctorate in music, the secret behind the six magic circles made by the blood of the kings and that their business partners have worked with such other classic bands as Uriah Heap, Molly Hatchet and Saxon! they also heap praise on Ian "Scream" Gillan, as well as UFO guitarist Vinnie Moore whilst criticizing Van Halen's tapping technique. brilliant stuff, and worth picking up for "battle hymn" alone…)
